You'd have better luck with an Eggman. Koo Koo Ka Choo!
After growing-up with and hearing these bass lines hundreds of times, it's always humbling having to play them(properly).
Probably good to make sure you've got some "boom", and turn any tweeters off.
McCartney plays a Hofner on all Beatles recordings up until REVOLVER, so it is incorrect to say he only recorded with a Rick and only played the Hofner live because it is light. He also played the Hofner during the whole LET IT BE sessions, and on a few of the ABBEY ROAD songs.
The Hofner, along with the Rick, is a huge part of the McCartney bass sound. Yes, he also has used Fenders, Yamaha, and Wal.
If you just want the SOUND, and are not too picky, get any old school style bass (passive electronics, please), put flats on it (a must!) and turn the tone knob almost off, and on the amp have a bit of treble, and a lot of bass. And play with a pick!! Oh, and use the neck PU only.
Yup, that's the one. Wear a circular saw blade between your crotch, too. You'll have the McCartney thing down after that.
Yeah! Get that and play Beatle songs! Ha ha!
I'm confused. Why won't you share what you play now? What bass/basses, amp, pedals?
You want the "sound", but I'm willing to bet TB as a group, can improve what you already have...
