As of right now I am running the GK head and an Ampeg 410hlf. I love the head, it has a great tone and very reliable.

However, the cab and the head are not a match made in heaven. I need a good cab to go with the GK that isn't ampeg. I was looking at Basson, Mesa, and SWR but any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

    ...How about GK Neo cabs?

  3. Avatar B410Neo.

I used that exact setup for awhile. 700 RBII and a 4ohm Avatar B410 Neo. Tone and Volume heaven.

hutz, what about a 1001 and the Avatar? That's what santucci uses IIRC

I use a 1001 and an Avatar. Enough power for me at the moment. :)

Hmm. I have the 1001 and am looking to start up my Orange rig.
1001 and an orange 410 until I can save up $2000 for the Orange head. :crying:

  7. I had the 1001 and the Avatar for a while too, Santucci "HATED" the GK 1001 and Avatar until I told him how to setup the EQ :)

It was loud enough for for any venue unless you were doing some kind of festival. I "downsized" to a Trace Elliot and a Prototype B212 NEO from Avatar.

I have heard good things about the avatars, but I do not think I would feel comfortable getting one without buying it first. Also, I may want to get two 4x10s of whatever I get, would the GK be ok powering the cabs.

  9. Trust the almost 10 ratings the Avatars get on Harmony Central and the raving on here. I have owned literally tons of gear and I am sticking with Avatar.

  10. I just got a new Avatar B410 to go with my GK 700. I played an outdoor show last Saturday night and didn't really have time to dial in the eq. It sounded ok, but I know it could have been better.

Fill me in - what are your EQ secrets?

So I played through a GK 410 Neo today and let me tell you all that cab is simply amazing. I am pretty sure it will be the cab I buy to go along with the 700 RB.

  12. I should hope not. Otherwise you might go to jail for theft.;):D

  13. I have the same cab and I'm thinking about upgrading to an Aguilar or Bergantino. SWR or GK would be a downgrade "in my opinion".

    IMO

Gk & SWR are not a downgrade. GK at one time had not so great of cabinets, now both neo series and the time tested RBH are VERY highly regarded, & SWR cabinets have been highly regarded from day one & seem to be enjoying a resugrence.

Bergs & Aggys are very good ,especially the Berg NV series .

Just because there's this perseption that they are a boutique maker doesn't mean they are better.

Let your ears decide, cost ,and research failure rates(reliabilty) etc. in choosing.

Get a GK neo 212,better still get 2 of them to get your 4 ohm load ,they are on my shopping list when the new version starts shipping.

I tried the current GK neo 212 with my 700RB11 & it sounds great together

    all this talk about me!

and yes, i didnt much like the tone till Allen helped me...and to be honest, i realized that i like Eden heads way more then GK, but my tone still is pretty beefy and strong, just not as much as Eden is all! Anyways, if you want to know how im eq'ing now, ask. I have a funeral to attend and ill be back later. I took what Allen gave me and ended up tweeking it slightly to what i currently have. Strong, punchy goodness, without the mud.

As for the avatar suggestion, i agree, but ill have you know that the tweeter on that darn thing is a pain in my ball. I dont much care for it, so i have it nearly turned off.

    Anyways, ask away!

Avatar and G-K are good, but in my opinion you *do* have a match made in heaven already! I love that cab with that amp!

That's my thought too. I guess you know how great the G-K neos sound after trying the 410, but you should really check out the twelves. I run my 700RB-II through two Neo112 cabs, and it sounds fantastic. They offer impressive depth and full-range clarity. I've never played a gig requiring more than this, but two Neo212's would of course be huge.

yeah +1 to the GK Neo cabs. They sound awesome. I've got a 212 and 112. they sound great, super clean and smooth, with plenty of bass if you want it, and nice mids. Honestly, its probably more power than I'll ever need.
