Need a little help with an Epiphone EA-260 Hollow Body

Pick this potential gem up the other day and need some technical info. I had researched it out totally yet, but. Not sure if I am going to keep it, repair it and sell it or part it out. Ideas and thought are welcomed.

DUDE! You've got to play that thing! Tune it up and go for it. If memory serves me correct, these were early 70's Matsumoku-made instruments. They seem to be hot and cold in terms of collectible value. I've heard they're awful and they're fantastic; a college buddy had one of the guitars, and the only thing it needed to be playable was to shim the neck (I think he used a quarter in the pocket at the bass end of the neck).

The angle is easily remedied with shims. Side to side play is pretty easy to deal with as well. I'll be that's a mean player!

** EDIT: This thread is great for a good example of how to deal with neck alignment issues as well. Honestly, if it's the neck seating that needs to be adjusted, then this is a huge score!

I am a luthier in the evenings, I am aware of how to tweak necks, so this thread won't be a good place for that type of info at all.

Let me be more specific;

What finish did they use?
What is the string height at the base of the neck supposed to be?
Anyone own one and have any luck finding parts?
What string gauge are you using on one IF you own one?
Any tips from owners or previous owner of these would be greatly appreciated.

My experience comes from owning a Vox Sidewinder, which is similar in construction to your Epiphone.

If I were approaching this problem, I would first unbolt the neck and examine the neck pocket for signs of structural damage. If everything looks good, move on to shimming the neck to improve the angle. I'd be checking the neck itself too for bows or twists. For strings, I'd look toward light gauge flats...TIs are mighty expensive, but put the least amount of stress on the neck. Pyramids are next, followed by GHS.

I have the action on my Vox set at about 3/64" at the twelfth fret.

The neck is all but golden, a little separation of the binding by the nut. An easy fix.
There is structural damage at the neck pocket on the body, again should be easy enough. Along this line, are these pron to body seperation in this area, I am going to assume it is due to over tensioning of the strings and or a weak spot for these?
