need a P bass pickup for a custom

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by wilser, Mar 5, 2005.

  1. Hello,
I am building a bass that will sport a P bass pickup. BUT! the pickup covers are to be replaced by wooden rectangular cover. I've never worked with P bass pickups, so I don't know what covers are replaceable or not.

    Can you recommend a brand?

    Model P? NP4? Fender? 1/4 lbs?

    Thanks

I've yet to hear one, but FWIW Jack Read of Read Custom Instruments also speaks highly of Aero Instrument's pickups.

I replaced the stock pickup in my Fender MIA Standard P-Bass with the Nordstrand NP4. I was looking for a vintage-sounding pickup when I bought it, and I'm very happy with it's sound.
