Just traded for a nice MTD Kingston (the Artist I believe, single MM style pickup) that had the 3 band pre removed and was rewired as a passive. Looking to put it back to an active, but I hear bad things about the OEM pre. Any thoughts on what pre to put in that will 1 not break the bank and 2 play well with the pickup?

I've heard an Aguilar OBP-3 in this model (with the stock pickup) - sounds fantastic.

So I finally had a chance to plug this thing in and give it a workout, and wow... I love that MM pickup! Very growly, very nice. So at this point I'm just looking for a pre that 1. won't overly color the tone I'm getting right now and 2. let's me use all four knobs. :D
