Need advise on Bass Amp/Cabinet (cheap)

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by tjalicem, May 22, 2002.

  1. After a 15yr. absence, I'm finally getting back into a band!!!! My current dilema I'm going to need a more powerful amp but I'm on a tight budget (wife and 3 kids). I have a Ibanez SDGR SR405 5 string bass w/active EQ and a Crate B-20 amp.The amp is fine in the house or a small garage but I need something bigger and more powerful for practice and gigs(the band has 3 in June already!!) Any advise would be greatly appreciated.$500.00 would be pushing the top of my money envelope.

Hmmm... I suggest looking for a used powerful combo amp like an old Peavey or something like that. $500 bucks wont get you alot if you want a head and cabinet setup.

Check some of these out... I would recommend the Tubeworks and Ashdown combos,, mind you 130 watts won't be sufficient if you've gotta compete with distorted halfstacks and a loud drummer.
