    Hi all,

I play both upright and electric and I need some recommendations on the proper amp. I've been using a GK combo amp, which has worked great for smaller venues, but I'm starting to play larger places. Anyway, I got a great deal on a used SWR Megoliath 8X10 cabinet, but I need a head for it. I'm not quite sure about all the intricacies of 4ohms, 8ohms, etc. The cabinet can go stereo or mono. I need some advice on what I would need and any recommendations that don't break the bank.

Something that would provide a great acoustic sound is most important.

    Thanks,
    Michael

What is your budget and where are you located?

I'm in Pasadena. Budget TBD. I'd love to keep it under $400 if possible

Since you know and like the GK sound, I'd look at a used 700RB II.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up getting an amazing deal from this dude off Craigslist who just wanted to unload. A Markbass Little Mark III head, a Markbass 410 Cabinet and a 2005 Fender American P-Bass, with hard case, in mint condition. All for $1000. Feeling pretty happy about that.

  6. So you pretty much paid 1K for an American P bass and some fodder to carry with it ;). Seriously the LM is an okay head but I never could get their cabs to make a sound I really liked.
