hey i havent actually bought my bass or anything yet.. im still doing my research on what to get.. this will be my 1st bass and ive decided to get me the ESP B50 bass.. nothing too flashy.. and not too exspensive.. i will be getting some lessons also but i havent looked about on that yet.. anyways im from sydney and im looking for an amp.. my room is really small and i guess something about what? 15w should do? it just for prac anyways and will be staying in my room pretty much always.. i most likely will be using headphones also.. andyways i was looking @ the Ashton Bass Amplifier BA158.. its under 200.. i dont really want to spend too much on my 1st bass and amp and other accessories i need to get with it.. like umm the lead isnt included with the amp or bass right? so ill need to get that cept. also will be getting a stand and strap and a tuner i guess i dont want to spend over 700AUD.. can any1 tell me if the Ashton Bass Amplifier BA158 is decent enough or should i look for something else? i dont exactly know any places that might sell 2nd hand amps here in sydney so i guess im just going to get me this Ashton Bass Amplifier BA158.. can any1 give me some feed back on it? or comments about it? is it reliable and stuff?
does any1 in sydney know any places that might sell 2nd hand amps? if so please let me know thanks..

The Ashton is ok. Around that kind of money they're all pretty similar - can't quite reproduce the lows. It will allow you to hear yourself though.

There is a Laney that is slightly more $ but is much better. I can't remember the price or model number at the moment but it's worth looking at.

Go and have a look at Bam Bam music in Blacktown. It's on Main St near the TAFE college. The owner is a drummer I do gigs with occasionally and he stocks a pretty broad range of gear. Ask for Adam Church or his wife Perry. Tell em Pete from the Wildcatz sent ya, and they'll probably look after you.

Otherwise, head out to Music Workshop in West Ryde. It's not too far and they've got a decent selection of gear. Once again, mention my name. All of guys in this store are top notch, but try to grab Matt or Gino. They're the bass specialists!

And there's always "The Bass Player" in Annandale. Ask for Lincoln or Carl.
  6. +1 Good call Pete, Adam is a top bloke. i bought my GK combo and BTB bass from them.

When i ordered my GK combo, Gallien Krueger delivered a 210 box and not the combo (grrr :spit: ) and i was told that theyre would be a 6 week wait until the correct one arrives. Adam made some calls on my behalf and had the comgo delivered to my door (granted i live 10 minutes away) but still top class all the way.

But i think the best way to go is to buy used. Check ebay.. theres some combos that show up for that price every now and then.

BTW, where in blacktown are you located? I'm out in Hassall Grove.

I hope that wasn't too long ago - looks like the GK 2x10 combo in question is now for sale?

BTW:- I'm in Baulkam Hills. The Westies are taking over!
  8. blacktown area meaning doonside.. lol
i dont live too far from dooni station.. and yes WESTIES ARE TAKING OVER! lol
  9. yup, thats the one im selling. I plan on sticking to GK. i just need the headroom and more speakers due to the fact that were doing more and more outdoor gigs, and our P.A. aint so crash hot. If we had a better P.A running, id just stick with this combo.

Adam helped me out when i bought the amp new around 2003 i think.
