my band has only had a few gigs, and we have another one coming up. ive noticed that for all of them so far, my guitarist takes forever to set up. so while hes tuning up and messing with his amp, me and the drummer are just standing there waiting, looking like idiots. i need an awesome bass and drum song that we can play to keep the crowd entertained during this 2 minute period. im desperate to fill that space when the crowd is silent and staring at us.

dosent have to be amazing, just recognizable and gets the crowd pumped.

    :bassist: :hyper: :hyper:
  2. Maybe you should wait off-stage until he's ready.

"Crossroads" with just a bass guitar and drums is pretty cool, especially if you give it the Rush treatment from "Feedback"

Any kind of bass/drum jam can always do the trick.

Sounds like what you need is a different guitar player.

Try the first couple bars of Van Halen's "Runnin with the Devil". Repeat as necessary.

The bassline from Chic - Goodtimes, which was sampled for The Sugar Hill Gang's Rappers Delight.
  10. I agree... just wait off-stage and hang out.

    super mario bros.

    or just jam out.
  14. I personally can't stand it when people noodle before sets/inbetween songs if it's not sound check. Usually it sounds like that person is craving attention. Wait of stage.

This is my opinion of course.

Ohhh, that or write a drum-bass intro that takes the 2 minutes for him to set up. Or just bass intro :)

Announce over the mic that "our guitarist is not quite ready yet so we will now play his entrance music". Then play Elgar's Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1 (if the name means nothing, you'll recognize it in a few seconds once you hear it). It sure sounds pompous!

Your guitarist will either find it really funny or get angry and quit the band.

Sung to the tune of "Bicycle" by Queen:

    Guitarist, guitarist, guitarist!
    We're waiting on the..
    Guitarist, guitarist, guitarist!
We're waiting on the guitarist, he likes to take his time.
He likes to set up after us, therefore; he's wasting mine.
Instead of entertaining you, we stand here watching him.
Instead of slapping my E string, I'd like to go slap him.
    Guitarist, guitarist, guitarist!
    We're waiting on the..
    Guitarist, guitarist, guitarist!

Trust me, after the 2nd time, you'll never have to sing this again. Unfortunately for our guitarist in my side band, I started singing this once, and the audience joined in!
  18. Black No.1 by Type O Negative. It has a cool bass and drums intro and then the guitar joins. if he still isn't ready, repeat the riff.

Be a show stealer and play a drum driven version of It's the Pits, Slight Return by Jonas Hellborg or launch into some big, mark king style slap off. :hyper:
  20. I Want You Back. crowds love it.
