    Hello,

I currently have an Ampeg SVT-4PRO, but at 42 pounds by itself (along with the case and surge protector/light strip) it is tough on my back. This combo sounds awesome, but I've seen plenty of high powered heads out there that weigh under 25 pounds.

So my question is, anyone got tips on a good head to power this amazing (light weight) cabinet with? I'm not playing stadiums, but I do need to fill up a medium sized bar without running through the PA.

    Thanks!
    -E.

Haven't had the pleasure of playing one myself, but I'm sure you'll hear some good words for ThunderFunk real quick on here.

I'm going pre/power myself with my 1210 (BMax & soon carvin DCM 1000 - lil over $600 new for the set)

Yep. I was gonna suggest TFunk. Works like an amp should.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

I had my eye on the T-Funk, but feel I should revise my search criteria. I am looking to downsize the price tag as well! I'm trying to keep it under $700 and a self contained unit - I don't want to get into preamps...

    Thanks again guys!

Tube pre, SS amp. Actually the V300H is plenty loud for me. I just did a gig at an Elk's Hall -- 200+ people. No PA support. It didn't even break a sweat.

I'd suggest getting a new kustom groove bass. They weigh about 30 pounds, so I imagine that would be alot less than what you already have in your rack.

Not to mention you can find em for 500$ and 1200 watts @ 2 ohms also.

Mind if I point out thta you can find em new for WAY less than that.

  11. If you can find an Eden WT with high power and under $700, I doubt you'd be disappointed.

Yes, the GK 1001 rb II (it's got a little over 600 watts I believe) can be found new for $600 shipped at riksmusic.com . A good choice as well.

Maybe try a high powered SWR?

Now it's down to the KUSTOM Groove Bass and the GK 1001RB. Which one would you shoose to power the Schroeder 21012???

    Thanks!

WOW! I will call. Everywhere I looked that amp has been $720.00. The GK and KUSTOM were around $600 - $620. This tip you just gave me puts the Yorkville back in the running too! Thanks!
