So I have the choice between a used Ampeg 810e with a peavey tour 700 and Gallien Krueger Bass rig that is a 1001rb head with a Glx 810 cab. I play hardcore and sometime play in Drop A# and mostly in Drop C. I've heard Ampegs aren't the best at handling the lower tunings? Please help. Thanks!

I think the 810e does just fine with low tunings. I see a lot of low tuned bassists who use them, too. Anyway, I'd do the Ampeg/Peavey. The 1001RB is a very good pro-level head but the Goldline cabs are crap. And if you're going to skimp anywhere, don't skimp on the cab. Meh bass + meh amp + great cab = great tone. Great bass + great amp + meh cab = meh tone.

Ampeg/Peavey! The ideal, IMO, would be the 1001RB into the 810, but even if that's not possible, the 810 is paramount.
