I'm looking at buying a 4ohm cab from Avatar. I'm thinking about getting the SB123 (12 inch speaker with a 6 inch midrange driver and a horn) or the SB210 (2x10 cab with a horn). Both cost the same, but I was wondering which one would sound the best with my amps (TC Electronic BH250 and a Markbass Little Marcus 250)? Thanks
Well in a standalone 4 ohm cab I would do 2x12. The cabs you mentioned I would prefer in 8 ohm. For me, the best standalone 4 ohm cab would be a 2x12
I use mine for more of a stage monitor to hear myself. I don't use a PA monitor, but the rest of the band does so I can hear everybody perfectly.
Whatever you get, put it up on a stand or even better buy a tilt back cab and put it in front of you like a stage monitor. Revsound has a nice ones in their product line. I think their 1x10 would be fine for your intended purposes. Give Dave a call, he'll be happy to speak with you.
I may have to look into that. I've had bigger cabs in the past, but that usually creates a volume war on stage. I should have really downsized sooner.
I’ve got a couple of Avatar 8 ohm 123 cabinets i use with a Carvin BX500 and i like it a lot. I can use one speaker for a lot of what i do and when i need more i just run both.
One more question, what aspects are you specifically looking to improve over your BBC 1212? There is no wrong answer - even aesthetics is a valid option, so be honest! In many ways, it seems to me like these Avatar cabs would be a lateral move, so just wanting to make sure we have all the info - sorry if I missed this in another thread!
Yes aesthetics and I'm not a huge fan of neo speakers. I just don't care for the tone. I feel like the ceramic speakers sound fuller IMO.
