Ok....here's the question I have. We just bought a subwoofer for my church and I want to know the correct way to run the bass through the system. I'm playing an Eden Metro onstage, so I have plenty of volume there, but what would be a good starting point for how much bass should be in the mains, the sub, etc. How should the bass run through the board? I heard you come out of a direct box, into the board, out to a compressor, back into the board, then out to the sub and mains. Is that right? Help us out if you can!!!
well, that would work. There should be no problem with that setup. It's just like adding another speaker. It just thumps a lot more.
My $.02 Either DI or mic (I prefer mic's) your amp, then hit the board. As to how much volume should hit the house, however much the soundguy feels matches the overall mix. There is no universal "set it to 3" kind of answer. How are you adding the sub to your system? Bi-Amping from a crossover? Can the existing speakers handle a good full range signal before distorting? Are you adding a sub to help out the mains?
Don't know about the bi-amping question....but we are helping the mains w/the sub. I'll get mo' info.
I'm generalising here, but usually when a church buys a sub, it's is often one of those Active subs with a built in amp and crossover. Is it one of those? Or is it just a normal passive sub speaker.
Ummm....JBL, don't have the make.(I play through an Eden Metro though.....wanted to say that again! )
