i need some help from anyone ..i have a warwick rock bass $$ corvette with the stock pasive pickups and a have a bartolini tc3 preamp and with the push pull knobs on it not sure how to wire it up for the most boost can anyone show me how to hook it up
@ctmullins - rather rude and unhelpful response to a fellow TB member who just made his first post, don't you think?
@helldarobo - you can download a pdf from Bartolini that should tell you everything you want to know about how to set up their TC series preamps. Download link: https://www.bartolini.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/TC-Booster-Preamps.pdf Luck!
Maybe. I'm old and curmudgeonly and rather tired of people who won't do the first bit of investigation before crying for help. It's not like the info is hard to find.
Point well taken. However, when I run into people who habitually do that I just don't respond. Still, it's not like it's hard to share either. BTW If there's anything I can ever help you with, let me know. Always happy to help a fellow TBer if I can.
yea dude i did investigate it and its my first install i have all the specks from bartolini but theres nothing about runing it with the push pull knobs so i thought i could get on hear and ask some one thats knows more about it then i do and insted of you helping you wear just a dick . but its cool you have nothing els better to do then down ppl that is trying to learn
thanks bro that other guy was a dick ....how ever i did look into it and on bartolini site theres nothing on it about using it with the push pull knobs i know it makes the pickups from series to parallel and just not sure if that will make a diff but thank you iam new to this site and insted of me screwing somthing up i would ask you know ....thanks again bro
Yep, I'm a dick, it's true. I usually try to hide it, but sometimes I'm unsuccessful. And if you did do some of your own research before asking, then I owe you an apology. Sorry. And if you did do some of your own research before asking, then it might have been helpful for you to state so right off the bat, and include relevant details of 1) what you're trying to accomplish and 2) what you've tried so far. You always get better assistance when you paint the clearest picture you can in your original request. So I've looked through Bartolini's document, and wow, it kinda sucks. The hand-drawn diagrams make it look rather amateurish, and the verbiage isn't as clear or structured as it should be. I see three or four different switches (a push-pull pot is nothing more than a pot with a DPDT switch stuck to it; from an electrical perspective they should be thought of as separate components) of different types. One of them is a three-pole, which you can't do with a DPDT push-pull. One of them is a single-pole on-off-on, which again you can't do with a push-pull. So what are you trying to accomplish, and which of those diagrams (that you've already studied) best fit your goal? Edit: I see that while I was typing my response you mention that the push-pulls are currently doing series/parallel on the pickups, and that (if I read your run-on sentence correctly) you'd like to keep that functionality. If so, then don't mess with the switch portion of the push-pull at all. Just wire the TC3 to the pot portion according to whichever diagram you'd like to use.
apology excepted thank you ...your wright i should have put more info about what i looked up and what iam trying to do basicly i have alot of basses but nothing with push pull knobs all are allready active this rockbass iam trying to make active with this tc3 i was told it be east install normaly id take it to a shop but i wanted to try it my self and i dont want to fry anything by trying to hook it up and just not familar with push pull knobs
You're more than welcome. And @ctmullins is not at all the way you initially characterized him. We all occasionally post something that doesn't come across the way it's intended. And that sometimes leads to hard feelings. As I should know. I've been guilty more than once of letting my own imagined cleverness overrule my better judgement - and I've said things I've later regretted. It can happen to anybody. But it's good to see the sense of community here allowed you both to clear the air and not stay annoyed with each other. Most people here really are decent folks. So don't be a stranger.
Ok, so some basic questions: Do you have experience soldering? Do you have access to a soldering iron? Are you comfortable reading a wiring diagram? Does the diagram include any components that you don't already have on hand, and need to purchase? Is English your primary language? (Consider filling out your TalkBass profile)
yea i hate having bad blood with anyone and yes iam guilty of it to ....but trust me iam the type of person that will ivestagate everything 5 times b4 i ask for help and i figured this site would help me out ...you know
