    Hello,

I saw a used 5-string BTB at a local shop and was wondering what these go for on average. It has the barts active p/ups, pretty good condition, some scratches on the back.

Just asking because I know shops usually charge more reather than buying from a private party.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Yeah can definitely count on the shops charging you 175%-200% of what they paid for a traded in instrument.

As for the BTBs, good basses for not much money. Being Bart equipped is a big plus, tone wise (unless Barts aren't your thing). I preferred the Duncan actives in mine personally.

Did you happen to look at the back of the headstock to see the model number?

Ok, I called the store and the guy couldn't find a model # but the serial # is: W960025. He said it just says BTB on the head stock.

Ok, checking out the link for the BTB's, it looks like this would be the model:

    BTB575FM

Same type of bridge, control knobs for the pick ups and eq.

  6. I think it will be a btb455qm. I've got one, and it looks exactly like the 575, has the barts and the same knob layout, same bridge, and the serial number is very similar.

The way to tell, is the top. The 455qm has a quilted maple top, and the 575 has a flamed maple top. Another big difference is the 455 is a bolt on neck, while the 575 is a thru neck.

I paid $500 for mine, brand new in a hardcase (on ebay), if that gives you any kind of average.

Its also an amazing bass for the price.

I did a search for the 455 model and it's the 455qm. It has the bolt-on neck and the color is transparent black. MF has it listed for $650 new so I think I got a great deal on this one.

  8. I dont think you will be disappointed. I've been known to chew through some gear (third bass rig in 4 months right now) and I honestly don't see myself selling it. I know its not the best bass ever, but it sure is a lot of bass for the price.

I think you'll be happy with it. I've got the 6 string version, (pre-barts production model) and love it. For the money they're hard to beat.
