Need help: simple Hawaiian bass line

Discussion in 'Tablature and Notation [BG]' started by UkeleleRalph, May 1, 2010.

  1. Hi,
first of all, I'm not a bass player, but I bought my wife a bass so she could play along with me while i play my ukulele. Most of the time I'll let her follow me on the chords, but this time I can't figure out how to let it sound like the following song:

This is the link to the Guitar and Uke Tab:

but I'm playing in G what comes to:

    A D C G7 C G7 C

    A D
    He aloha ku'u ipo
    C G7 C G7
Ku'u hoa maka onaona noho i ke kuahiwi

    A D
    Ho'i mai no kaua
    C G7 C G7
    Me a'u e pili e ku'u 'i'ini a ka pu'uwai

    A D
    'O ka pa konane
    C G7 C G7
A ka mahina la 'ahu wale no ka pae 'opua

    A D
    Ha'ina mai ka puana
    C G7 C G7
Ku'u hoa maka onaona noho i ke kuahiwi

Now dear Bass wizzards, could anyone write the bass tab for my wife? don't think it's to hard for her to play, basicly some back and forward stuff with some nice small 'walks'.
    Thank you all!

Here's the transcription for the bassline. It's the same circle over and over with slight variations. I don't feel the meter (pulse) as 4/4 but 2/2 (cut time), so that's why wrote it that way. Hope this helps!

    Uke01. Uke02.

Didn't read this part. But, according to the chords you're playing, it seems that you aren't playing the piece in G major but C major. Here's the bassline again, transposed to that key:

    Uke03. Uke04.

There are easier position choices for playing the same notes, but I prefer these ones because of the fatter tone. Let me know if you want the easier version.
