Hey TB! I've been searching for an Acoustic for a while now and stumbled upon this gem. "Guild B30-E NT Acoustic/Electric Bass 1993 Natural" listed for $400. I have seen this same Bass from the same guy listed on a few other sites for $1,100 and then dropped to $400. I personally have no experience with this brand of guitar so I was curious if anyone out there could let me know if it's legit? (Unsure if guilds are even faked to begin with) also, an assessment of any visible damage from the photos would be very helpful, as anything acoustic is out of my wheel house. Thanks!
A cursory look at the photos doesn't raise any flags. Guild pretty much was the first production ABG (because the Ernie Ball Earthwood was really limited production), and in my experience the only common ones that actually work somewhat as acoustic instruments. Caveat- I'm a big fan of Guild instruments and have been since the early '80s. I managed a guitar store '77 - '88 where we were dealers for Gibson, Martin, Fender, Takamine, Ovation, Fender, etc. Guilds remain my favorite acoustic guitars. Go to the "Let's Talk Guild" discussion board, they have a dedicated bass section with a lot of folks who are VERY knowledgeable about these and the market. Hans Moust, who wrote the history of Guild book is a member there too.
Looks 100% legit. $400 is the giveaway price and if it is structurally sound, buy it right away. Those strings are goners.
Unfortunately the seller removed the listing last night on all platforms without any indication as to why. Thanks everyone for the help anyway!
