need info on older johannes kohr 52

Discussion in 'Basses [DB]' started by J Vlaming, Oct 20, 2003.

  1. I am looking at buying a 1980 Johannes Kohr model 52 on-line and am trying to find out as much as I can since I won't have the chace to play it before purchase. The seller says it was made in germany. I have also found info that implies the new 52 is a carved top hybrid.

Anybody out there familiar with older Kohrs? The price seems good($800 + shipping)and there are no cracks or neck repairs.

    Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Some newer Kohrs are made in China, not that that is good or bad. There is a reputable dealer that sells them at the link below.

    Good Luck . . .

    trial period

If the seller will not agree to a one or two week trial period, do not buy it. Online sales = buyer beware.

  4. I have a newer ('97) Kohr 52. It is a Czech made hybrid with a solid top and beautiful flamed laminate back and sides. It sounds awesome but I've never tried an older one.
