Hiya, I've been broke and playing mostly unamped for about year now. I've worked all summer, and am finally able to get myself an amp. Now after looking for quite a while, I've got it narrowed down to the Mesa/Boogie M6 Carbine and the Gallien Krueger Fusion 550, but as they're both fairly new amps I can't find sound samples anywhere. If anyone knows where I could find one, or have either of the amps and could make a real quick audio sample for me I would really appreciate - It would certainly help make my choice a lot easier. Thanks a ton!
One thing to consider about the M6- the effects loop send is POST master volume. Weird but true. This may or may not be an issue for you. It was for me, because I wanted to use a rack compressor in the loop. As you can imagine, this was a problem.
I am a big fan of both of these heads. If you look at the preamp curves for the two of them (see issue #1 of BGM for the M6 and issue #3 for the Fusion 550), they definitely have some similarities. To me, the main difference between the two is that you can dial in a much more overdriven tone on the Fusion. They are both killer heads, though, IME/IMHO. Tom.
