Need samples of 60's and 70's bass sounds!

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by rabid_granny, Apr 21, 2002.

  1. I've been reading posts that say Fender's Original 62 pickups sound like 60's style jazz basses while the Custom Shop 60's pickups sound like 70's style basses.

Can anyone recommend songs that would demonstrate either sound?

Just buy a POD. They're all built in.

You want a good example of 70's bass? Jon paul From ledzepplin my friend, i wish i could cut as good as that and have low end. He has one of the best rock tones of all time IMO.
  4. Don't want to sidetrack too much but, what's a POD?

Hmm... I can't tell if that was a joke or not.
    ...Either way I'm kinda disturbed.

  6. Uhhh, why would you be disturbed?

    BTW, what's a POD?
  7. A POD is sort of an effects pedal made by Line 6. Only instead of distortion effects is re-creates various amps and pickup styles.

I don't like them, personally. But hey, that's me.

    Rock on
  8. The guitar version sounds great
  9. Do you need an amp to use a POD?

I'll see if I can find stuff on the internet as well. Thanks though.
  10. I think so, but they could also come in a pre-amp version that you could just plug into a speaker.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

  11. Well the Pod Pro is a preamp (it brings your signal to line level) so you can plug it into a speaker if it's an active speaker, but if you don't have an active speaker you will need a power amp.

Since when has the POD emulated pickup sounds?

Last I checked it only did amps and effects.

  13. It doesn't emulate pickups but the V-Bass with Synth pickup does

    V- Bass?

    Whats that?

Its not a Line 6 product is it?

  15. Its by Roland,

its basically all the things a synth keyboard can do (waves, strings, other bass sounds) only on a bass.

Thing is, you need to attach a special pickup to your bass, but it isn't that much trouble.
  16. it also simulates amps, and whole basses (you can create your own)

Oh ok, I think I know what you're talking about. I just didn't know the name. It's a MIDI system, right?

  18. This is turning into an effects thread, so AWAAAAAAAAYYYY it goes!!

    Rock on
  19. I was wondering how this snuck past me...
