Looking to improve my MIM standard Pbass. First of all, I love the tonal aspects of the stock pickups. They are punchy and pillowy at the same time and the balance of lows, mids, and highs are really nice. The problem is they are ceramic and seem to lack the tonal focus of alnico pickups, if that makes any sense. These ceramics seem to accentuate the overtones a little more than the fundamental. So, I've been around the block having fun trying pickups: Lollars - seemed really hot which is not what I'm going for at all. Fender Originals - seemed heavy on the bass, great for Rock but not so much for groove oriented music. Fender Pure Vintage '63 - good but a little anemic in some ways Fender Custom Shop '62 - best of the lot but still was missing....something So, I'm left thinking about Nordstrand NP4's or NP4V's. Any Advice?
