Need some flippin help!!

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Gandolf Bassist, Sep 8, 2001.

  1. I am going to go ahead and change the Pups on my Ibanez. Now I would like to change the Pups on my Explorer bass. It has two humbucking Pups. I would like to put a basslines MM style in the bridge position, now I dont know what to do with the other one. I need help! Thanx for any responses in advance. Hopefully someone WILL answer this time!

    G-B,

I'm wonderin' just what kind of Explorer you have.
    Is it like this one?...

Hmm...I think there might be a concern there RE string-spacing.
Granted, the M/M's got those big-@$$ polepieces, but there
could be some mis-alignment. Some routing would be required
to accommodate those "ears" (tabs) and (most likely) different
    outside dimensions of the M/M...

You might wanna' consider a Bart BB, BC, M3, or M4, depending
on the dimensions of your current pups. Most of those Bart
models have blade style polepieces in three configurations --
split-coil (P type), dual-coil, and triple coil. Plus, each has
different windings for "deep", "brighter", and "brightest" tone.

If ya' wanna' go that route, grab a ruler and check the dimensions
of the pups that are currently on your Explorer. Then peruse
the Bart Dimensions catalog for the best fit (least routing ;) ).

For those (PDF) Bart catalogs, click here.
