Need some help

  1. Can static electricity cause everything from the guitar, to cables, effects, and the amp to work one second and not the next?

    It depends on what kind of static you're talking about. In the case of lightning yes, but on the assumption you're talking about the normal kind of static charge built up by walking around on synthetic carpets or the like, then no.

    Having said that, it's easy to damage chips in modelling amps and pedals, though even that would be unlikely in normal situations,
