in this diagram (#0133) on this site http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electro...kup_Switches/Instructions/I-1217.html#details the wires that go to the output jack, which one is the ground and which one is the hot lead? thanks in advance -casey
The hot lead always goes to the tip of the cable connector. In the case of your wiring diagram, that lead comes from the center pole of the switch and runs all the way down to the very bottom of the diagram, then across. The ground lead is the one coming off the other side of the switch and going to the sleeve connector.
The ground is the one which goes to the box (indicating the sleeve of the jack). If you follow the wiring diagram, you see that the lead going to the box is connected to the caseing of the volume pot, indicating it is a ground. Whereas the other lead going to the output which comes from a tab on the potentiometer is the hot.
thank you so much, now that i've got that figured out, theres one more question i've got, is it absolutely necessary to ground the switch to both pot?
