I'm currently upgrading my OLP MM2. I have my Bart NTBT 2 band EQ with a push/pull (active/passive) volume pot all wired up on my control plate. The routing for the preamp and battery will be done in the next few weeks. All I need is a nice pickup to seal the deal. I've been looking at the AlNiCo Basslines, but I'd like some other opinions just to be sure I get the right pickup. I want something with good midrange presence since I don't have a mid eq knob to boost the mids. Right now I do mostly 90s/modern rock covers. Fingers 80%, pick 15% and slap 5%. And if possible, I'd like to stay at or below the $100 mark. Thanks.

Never listened to one, but Nordstrand makes MM pickups.

I like the ceramic Basslines better than the alnico. The alnicos sound dull to me.

Nordstrand 4.2 is $108 at bestbassgear.com. I like mine a lot. Sounds good active and passive.

    Me too!

I think ceramic is a little punchier in the mid frequency, that's the main difference between a Stingray (alnico) and a Sterling (ceramic) IMO.
