Need tighter strings

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by RAT TAT TAT, Jul 31, 2005.

  1. I don't know if its a scale length difference between the stingray and p bass, but the same set of dr bootsy 50-110's feel tighter and have less fretbuzz at a lower action on the p then they do on the stingray. My tuning is CGCF by the way. I'm thinking of stepping the guage up a notch. I tried 115 from ghs but they died reeal quick. So I was thinking about trying a dr 5 string set 120-whatever, and not using the thinnest string (the g, but f for me) because that's the next size about 110 that dr makes, and I would like to stick to dr. Any help on this?
P.s. The only real trouble is with the e (tunned down to c)
  2. My guess is that your P has a straighter, stiffer neck than your Stingray and possibly a higher cut nut. There is no scale difference, I think. I would raise the action on the Stingray.
