I have a bass lesson tomorrow night at my house and I have just begun to learn to slap, and I want to improve my technique, but I cannot think of a good song to choose to learn tomorrow that would help me improve my slap technique. Any reccomendations?

In other words, what songs that involved slap did you first learn?

Look at some Red Hot Chili Peppers stuff. And, EVERYONE knows the "higher ground" riff. learn that. just don't play it in music stores, or i will kill you.

I first learned 'Take The Power Back' by Rage. Fairly simple and helps build the chops. Other than that RHCP is the place to be.

Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), from Sly and the Family Stone. A classic.

I cant remeber the first song i learn that had slap in it, but if you are really struggling, just add slap to a few riffs/songs that you already know.

Give a listen to Got To Be Real by Cheryl Lynn. IMO, it's not very difficult, it's fun to play, and it grooves  ...
