    Hey Guys,

I am thinking on bidding on some 5 string Peavey Cirrus bass's. The question, how can I tell if it is the original Cirrus model, or the stripped down BXP?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Vegaas

A Cirrus will have "Cirrus" on the headstock... Also doesn't the BXP series have a carved out lower horn??

Wow, the Cirrus BXP doesnt have Cirrus on the headstock? I never realized that.

    Thanks,

Not sure.. Can you post a pic of the bass in question?

Thought those were the "Grind BXPs"..

    :meh:

  5. it sure does

  6. Isn't that a 'Grind' model? I think it is. All real Cirrus basses I'm aware of are also active. I bet the one pictured is passive, making it a Grind. The BXP Cirrus models are bolt-on's I think.

That's a Grind NTB ("neck-thru body"), not a Cirrus or Cirrus BXP. I see a lot of these being passed off as Cirrus on eBay.

    Here is a pic.

I am pretty sure it is a original Cirrus, but I dont know much about the Cirrus BXP models so I just want to make sure.

Looks like a regular Cirrus to me from that pic..

  11. Looking at the pic on the link....That looks like a real Cirrus. Obvious not a bolt on. It is still hard to tell for sure because the headstock is so dark in the pic. The Cirrus BXP models look just as similar though the headstock does have the BXP markings and if I remember correctly they have a small piece of black or wooden material at the base of the neck / body joint just above the neck pickup. Maybe wrong though.

Yeah hard to tell for sure.. vegaas can you ask the seller for more detailed pics? Headstock and back of the bass preferrably.

  13. JUst checked the Peavey site. No black plastic or wooden piece that I mentioned....sorry.
But the headstock does display BXP.

Your pic looks like the real deal.

Yep, it looks like a real Cirrus, although I`ve never
seen a stock one with gold knobs (they used some kinda
    cheap rubber or something).

    Yep, that's the real deal..

  16. Hi the best way to tell is 2 things the regular Cirrus has a drop d tuner on it and an adjustable bridge. The BXP does not.I hope this helps.Good luck Joe :bassist:

AFAIK Cirrus don´t have a Drop D tuner.
(Maybe I bought a Kubicki then :smug: )
