even after reading all of the posts about 50w amps not being loud enough, i went to a little jam with a guitariust (50w) and a drummer and couldnt even hear myself play. so i need a new combo amp. i thinking about the nemesis 115, but suggestions are welcome.

    thanks

I don't know how many watts that is off-hand, but I'd definitely get more. I've got a 100 watt amp that I'm running around 5-6 just in church (though they really like bass for some reason :) ) At any rate, try it out as well as several others and see what you like the best. I'm really into 15's, so if I was in your position I'd go for a SWR Workingman's 15 or a GK 15. I really like Eden, but I don't like the Nemesis line (not anything wrong with them, just personal choice), so I'd probably get one of their CXC line of amps. You might want to look into Ampeg and Crate as well, perhaps Hartke too.

well, the gallien MB150S-112 or the 400RB/115 look pretty nice. I dont know many stores that carry them though. I also need an amp with lots of low end growl, what would be good for that?

    thanks.

Low-end growl, as I've found it, tends to be a function of both your bass and your amp. I can get a nice acoustic sound of my Crate BX-100 by using both pickups on my jazz bass and putting the Contour switch on my amp at 9 o' clock. Then again I can get a nice Tony Kanal/No Doubt rumble by running the amp with no Contour and just the neck pickup on my bass.

I've been told that GK's in general have a far bit of low-end growl, though I've honestly never played one so I can't comment from experience. You might ask your local shop if they can't order one in for you to try out. Otherwise try contacting GK for your nearest dealer (see link in above post).
