We got a booking for a deadly gig as the headline band on a several band bill in a week or so, but now its looking like we're gonna get bumped because one of the guys in another band has a brother on the organizing committee for the event. it is _really_ infuriating that things like this happen, i've had similar things happen to me before, in one instance we were told "if you don't go on first, then nobody else will play", and it was a packed house. so we went out and absolutely rocked out, we were the only band to get asked for a encore (we actually did a double encore!) so the rest of the night turned into an anti-climax as the other bands had to follow us...i guess we'll have to do the same this time again...but its so annoying! i'm half tempted to leave in the songs we do in our setlist that this other band do, so we'll have done them first when it comes to the gig on the night. but i feel like that would be the petty thing to do. its actually really p*ssed me off i was loooking forward to the gig so much
Leave the songs in. They're already screwing you, why would you do them a favor by changing your setlist to accomodate them? It would only be petty if you "added" songs to your setlist that were in theirs already. You put your best songs in the setlist. No reason to take them out, replace them with something else that isn't as good a song, making your band look worse, all to do them a favor of some sort? Especially after they did that? Nope. Randy
Yeah you're 100% right and looking at it a day after i found out, its all about putting on a show, and if they are the headliners then they have to put on the best show, or better than the preceeding acts atleast!
