Neverending GAS..What's Next?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by crazyphil, Sep 24, 2002.

  1. I have a Fender MIM P-Bass and I love it for rock music. I want to start getting a little funky and I'm looking at getting another bass to round out my (lack of) skills. I'm, looking for a jazzy, funky bass that responds well to slapping/popping and I'm thinking of grabbing a MIM Fender J simply because I think the quality of the MIM's are very good for the price.

How's the J-Bass for slapping and popping? Any other ideas?

  2. Evidently, somebody's selling a Reverend Rumblefish over at www.bassgear.com for $400. They're great basses, and I think the slap tone sounds just fine (as does Dave Pomeroy, read this month's issue of BP Mag). I love my Reverend!:)

Hey crazyphil slapping and popping started on a jazz bass. And a jazz bass with flatwound strings on it at that. Larry Graham played the bass percussively in church with his mother. He slapped and thumped cause the group had no drummer.
