New 410 Cab

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by norim_13, Jul 8, 2013.

  1. Hi!

    I'm currently looking for a 410 cabinet.
    I have a Gallien Krueger 1001RB and a Marshall 215 cab.

I have now two deals in sight:

    1 - SWR Workingman's 410 (300€)

    2 - Peavey 410TX Made in USA (250€)

    Could anyone help me decide?

Last gigs I've looking for Flea's kind of sound (I've been playing lots of red hot stuff), but in the band we also play Coldplay Stuff (more bass and deeper sound, I guess :p)

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I'd take the Peavy

I would take the SWR but also check that the impedance is the same for both cabs and that your head can handle the new load.

  4. Both are 8ohms, just as my Mashall, so I'll have 4ohms total, which I think will give me the most out of the amp.

Anyway, thanks for the opinions, but I would also like if you can tell me why you prefer one over the other.

    Thanks

A 2nd Marshall 215 would be the most ideal mate, so long as they really are 8 ohm cabs.

  6. These are very hard to find... And by now I'm really decided to go with a 410 :p

Anyone else has something to say about this?

    Thanks ;)

Hey bro I would say for that money or a little more, you could pick up a GK Neo 410 cab used. I actually just sold one for $300 because I was downsizing. Much better quality compared to both of those cabs, you also have the option to bi-amp your head through it if you wish to.

I would go for the peavey! Sounds good and is rock-solid. Unfortunately (if I remember correctly) Peavey cabs are stupid heavy and bulky

  9. That was my first idea, but looking at ads, I really didn't find any GK cab at sale... (only one, but the guy wanted to sell it along with an head and also a bass). It's hard to find because the market here in Portugal isn't as big as the US market or others...

    Thanks for the opinion.

I see almost everybody likes the Peavey. I've searched reviews and I see this is a pretty good cab made to last forever.

Anymore opinions? I'm kind of reticent in choosing, because I really can't find anything about the SWR Workingman's cab... No reviews or anything...

Played a swr cab once with a hartke ha3500 head. Not my cup of tea (the hear neither).
Played a peavey cab once (a 4x12) with my head and it sounded totally awesome. Peavey has kind of a strange reputation. Seems noone buys it new but everyone advises to get peavey stuff second hand ;-)
They should think of a second-hand product line :)
