New 5 string needs new strings!

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by count_funkula, Jul 31, 2001.

  1. I just bought a Carvin LB75 and I need new strings. The Carvin strings that are on it don't suit me.

This is my first set of 5'er strings and I need some advice.

I like a light gauge string (easy on the hands) with a smooth top end. I don't like really bright, coarse sounding strings. On my Jazz bass I was using Dean Markley Blue Steel strings.
I used the light gauge tapered strings and they seemed to have a really tame top. They sounded bright and new but not clanky and loud. Does that make any sense?

Any recommendations? I'm going to get Dean Markley strings again unless I hear some other suggestions.

    Thanks.

D'addario Slowounds. Super smooth high end, great low end, and perfect everything else! :D

They aren't gritty in the least, and they're very smooth on the hands, and they last forever. Try em!
