NEW AMP DAY! Fender Bassman 300 Pro

Got a great deal on one from the classifieds here (Thanks 2Rad), and I am completely blown away. I got the all-tube itch again a few months back and have been looking around.

I've had a couple different incarnations of the SVT (80s SLM and Newer USA and LOUD) and had all the Ampeg Pro stuff, and always considered myself an Ampeg amp guy. I still have the Portaflex 800 and a 90s B2-48, and I love them both.

But wow.

This thing cooks, and has so much headroom and so much bottom end that I can't see myself ever going back to an SVT (at least a newer one) any time soon.

A lot of reviews say it is difficult to dial in, but I had no trouble finding a solid tone within a few minutes. Also, I absolutely hate compressors and never use them. But this onboard compressor on this head adds so much top end bite that it is actually usable, and may stay on for me on a regular basis.

I can't say enough about how happy I am about this. This is with the stock Sovtek/Groove Tube power tubes also. The seller included a brand new unopened set of Svetlana 6550's, so I'm set for whenever that time comes too.

Can't wait to get my pedals in front of it. That should be wild.
