So many months ago, I commissioned a custom amp built by Hex Electrics in Salt Lake City.

    Today, it finally arrived.

    200 watt (4x6550) output

Based on the second generation (red knob) version of the Sunn Model T with the boost-only midrange and frequency selector.

It was actually less expensive than a vintage Sunn would be, so I saved money, too.

Looks awesome!!! Is it a Sunn replica? The unboxing :bag: was painful though...

    Lol, sorry.

Yes, it is based on a Sunn amp. It's essentially the same as a second generation Model T, the version with the red knobs and mid-selector switch. I picked that one because its mids are boost only.

    Passinwind I know nothing.

Cool. A good friend of mine had a second gen Model T, it was one of my favorite tube amps for rock stuff.

Yeah, I decided to order this amp after I tried out my friend's second gen Model T through my 2x15. Weighed a few options, and it turned out commissioning a custom replica was actually more affordable than buying a vintage one.

Looks cool. Did you realize you posted six pictures of the packaging and two of the amp itself?

    Sorry for the poor quality:

Longer video, slightly better sound, but worse picture, and even worse playing:

I go through basically all the pedals I have on my board. EHX Ravish Sitar and Hungry Robot "The Wash" are on at the beginning. The Morley wah is fairly obvious. There's a section later with the Dunwich Du-95 Fuzz, and the Korg Miku even makes an appearance.

Nice! Did I recommend you go this route?

  16. Wow! :) That looks cool!. Sort of a moderinish high techish vintagey thing? ;)
    Looking forward to your review!

It actually doesn't weigh nearly as much as it looks like it would. I was surprised that it was relatively light weight.
