So I just got this new amp. The input and controls are on the front like I'd expect, but the speakers are in the back. Not only that, but even when I turn the volume up all the way, it makes no sound {}
You shouldn't have that volume much past noon you know. I see you've got that amp pegged. That's not what they meant by Ampeg.... Give it time. Maybe the speaker just needs to break in.
Well no wonder it doesn't work, your missing the power cord... You need the plug one of these into the other jack: {}
You are maxing out that tweeter. It could be sucking too much power from the speaker to produce as many highs as you want, and the whole rig is suffering. Other than that, I dunno.
It keeps getting worse - these bass amps are now designed so the speakers face the crowd, but the bass player needs to be behind the amp (recommended in manual to be behind curtain if at all possible). Just another ploy by the guitarist-ego-industrial-complex to keep us bassists heard and not seen, and make sure all spotlights & attention is on them.... And now they don’t even want us heard!! I guarantee you - bring that amp to a gig & you’ll still be told to turn down!
Yes I believe you're mostly right, probably all the power is lost in the ultrasonic range of the tweeter.
It’s broken and probably not worth fixing. I’ll pick it up and take it to the dump for you. The bass might also be bad. I’ll check it out and let you know if you should put any money into it.
