I am a junior in high school and have been playing bass for about two years now. Me and some friends are starting a band, and I need a new amp. I need something so I can play small gigs and practice with. I need it to be portable. I know quality amps cost a lot, but what can I get on a budget of $200-$300? What size range would that put me in? I don't know if I need dual speakers or anything like that. Should I go with an all in one or head and cabinet system? Thanks a lot!

    1. Buy used.
    2. 150w Peavey Combo with a Black Widow 15 (it has gone under several names in different years).

Can't beat PV if you are really stretching dollars. Especially the used market.

Thanks guys, I'll keep my eyes open for used peavey's. One of the guitar players in our band usues his fathers Peavey amp from the 70's, so I know they are quality.
