New Amp idea.

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by bryan bailey, Jul 16, 2004.

  1. QSC PLX 1202
    Sansamp RBI
    Avatar compact 1x12

Lightweight, hopefully enough power for practices.

    Than PA when gigs occur.

    Any thoughts?

also thinking of adding an avatar 2x10 to this as well...

[edit:decided the RBI would be best. I was avoided that, but it only weighs 5 pounds, so it's most likely that.]
  2. Forget the 2x10 and add a 2nd 12 :bassist:

I love 'em on guitars and love 'em even more on basses.
  5. Gotta like the 12
  6. Uh.. how much do those 1 rack space peavy power amps go for used?

How easy are they to find used? How well do they work.
  7. Try a Carvin DCM600, pretty light weight, loud and reasonably priced, ~ $200.00 used. Goes very well together with an RBI
  8. Does it weigh under 20lbs?

DCM 600 specs from carvins website:

    2U rackmount 3.5"H x 10"D x 19"W, WT: 19 lbs
  10. I checked into it...not enough power that I am looking for.

I need roughly 300-500 per channel at 8 ohms.

I'll go for either the PLX 1202 or the Peavy single rack 1400 one.
  11. i think the DPC 1400Xs go for about $700 used on ebay.

    For practices? what the?

I use that exact rig, but with an ampeg portabass 2x 12 and/or an swr goliath II jr 2x10. I've never really encountered a gig that this rig couldn't cut

You should be wearing ear protection...
