How about a 200 watt V4B same size, features, and weight?

What are some cool ideas some of you may want?

Yes a 200 watt all tube head at around 60lbs would be perfect!

The old SVP II (3 tube preamp) hooked to a class D 1000 watt engine room. Call it the "SVPT 1000"

I'd rather see Yamaha not do anything except keep Ampeg's legacy as it is. History has shown us how things can go awry such as Fender taking over SWR and I believe Genz Benz, Gibson and Peavey running Trace Elliot into the ground, and there's other examples I'm sure you guys can name. Be careful what you wish for.

Agreed I would like to see at least a couple premium built tube amps.

Actually the Asian made cabs are quite good.

    • A 200 watt tube head to sit between the V4B and SVT with external user adjustable bias controls and 8, 4, and 2 ohm output taps and at least one Speakon jack
    • A tweeter-less, sealed 6x10 cab at or below 100 pounds (basically the SVT-810E with two less speakers)
    • A compact tube preamp class D head with between 500 and 800 watts
    • Neodymium versions of existing cabinet designs like the SVT-15E, SVT-112AV, or SVT-212AV, also with Speakon jacks
    • A 2x15 cabinet. I get that most companies make 1x15 cabs and you can buy two, but the option would be nice to have, especially given how many different 2x15s they made over the years; it could be a "re-issue" model, perhaps to pair with the aforementioned 200 watt tube head.

Speakon jacks are a No-No with tube amps. Quarter inch speaker jacks on a tube amp are designed to short when not connected thus giving a level of protection should the amp be ran without a load which generally saves the output Transformer.

Speakon Jacks that I know of do not have a way to short when disconnected.

SVT 6 PRO. The only spec it doesn't meet is class D. This one is a mosfet lead sled. It crushes, though.

Something other than the big boys with a 2 ohm tap. Some modern style 112's that push a lot of air. Mesa Subway concept without costing me the equity in my house.

I want three of them boxes plus that 2 ohm safe amp.

  20. The 200 Watt, four KT88/6550 idea (ESPECIALLY an Ampeg) has been spoken of by a great many around here before. There was a good thread going on about 4 or 5 months ago.

Sadly, as with critics of anything, the naysayer voices tended to drown out the endorsers of this idea.

I would LOVE (and would easily throw down my credit card for) a "middle child" between the V4b and SVT.
