I went to their site ( www.delano.de ) to stare at those beatiful giant poles jazz and I found they have a new MM "hybrid" pup. The poles in the bridge side are small dual like in a traditional jazz. Very pretty...it is a shame that there is no aditional information about it.

    yikes :eyebrow: that's somethin' else

I been lookin' for (hot) replacement pups for my Warwick $$.
I figured a Kent Armstrong (w/blade poles) for the neck position
    and...???

I ran across the "MM4" on the RioGrande "Specifications" page,
but there's no pic on the Basses page. I emailed them and
Dave (Wintz) replied that it's basically a Powerbucker in a
MM housing. A little photo tweaking and I think it looks like the
    attached pic :)

  3. that is interesting...I wonder if there is a difference in the windings and sound between the two sides and if a parallel/single1/single2/series type switching arrangement might be useful.

    neat.
drop that in a Jazz bass instead of the bridge p'up, get a MM tweak to your sound without losing the J bridge p'up...
    I like it in theory.

    FWIW:

yep the Delano looks like an MM/J pup fusion and probably what it is. May be hardwired HB but it would hum split up unless the coils are HC.

I wonder why RioGrande didn't do that initially instead of that freak double J. From a marketing perspective, you want your aftermarkets to be drop-ins for popular configs.

In my experience, an MM split put a J sound anyway. If fact I mounted a pair of Bart J's side by side once and they sounded like a Bart MM.

    bump

I wonder how this would sound different than a regualr MM style pu.
