    Thanks. So you say the only advantage of doing it your way is that you have better quality than just plugging the audio of the headphone out into your sound card and then recording it in my DAW (Cubase)?

    Yep, that's it. You have a perfect digital copy rather than one that's been converted to analogue and back to digital

    If you're using Linux you can install "Audio Recorder" which grabs the audio stream that is sent to the sound output device. It is can be saved as a variety of audio formats both lossless and lossy with a choice of sample rates.
