And here's another new Tribby with a new finish for 2009: Walnut Satin. GORGEOUS!!
Wow. that's beautiful.
Well, that's quite a compliment coming from you, Nino! I LOVE the Spalted Maple topped bodies in your "In Production" section. I'm a sucker for Spalted Maple...
Sweet G&L, I'd like it even more with a maple board though.
Yeah, I thought the same thing, but Maple is not yet an option with this color. I think this was a special limited run that they didn't get too wild with. If it takes off, I'm sure they'll make it a standard bass and add maple as a fretboard option.
I see, still damn' nice with rosewood though!
I just started a thread yesterday in the Basses section about walnut finished G&L's, but I didn't realize that it was a new finish option so I probably won't get any replies, and now I just found this thread from last year.
I'm really digging the looks of the Walnut finish in the pics on G&L's website. It has kind of a deep red look to it instead of brown, at least on my monitor.
If you still have this bass in stock, how would you describe the look of the finish? Does it have any semblance of red in it at all, or is it definitely brown?
It's a reddish brown, but definitely brown
As fate would have it I somehow wound up with this bass. I remember looking at this thread when it was originally posted and thinking what a nice looking L2000 it was (yes, even serious Roscoeheads can appreciate other brand instruments).
I had been contemplating getting a 4 banger for recording and after playing a couple of tribute L2000E's in Portland OR I decided to start looking for a nice used one. I was very impressed with the construction, sound, playability and of course price.
It just so happened that the lady who purchased this bass for her husband (who only played it 2-3 hours) put this one up for sale on TB. The next thing you know it's in Bonaire GA!
It looks even better in person and actually setup great!
Buy your next bass from the guy who bought his last bass at Rocket Music..............
God Bless, Ray
Ray, I think that you have a future in advertising!

Very cool, Joe!!!
Where's the sound clip?!?
Well I'm home sick and recovering from inner ear dizziness but I did manage to sit up long enough to laydown a track of the G&L L2000 on Danny's song...
I was quite impressed with the tone of the bass. I could definitely gig with this bass. It's fun to play too. Probably because it's a 4 string and I haven't played one in many years.
Jump55 G&L Tribute L2000
#1 I hope ya get to feeling better.
#2 Good Bass Tone. A little Brighter than your Roscoe.
#3. You've got three versions of Jump 55 you've done but I can't get out one.(That I like). So....
God Bless, Ray
Nice score, and nice clip man! Congrats.
Sorry for submitting yet another version of Danny's Jump55.
It was the only song currently on my Roland BR-600 and to fetch one from my PC would require looking at the PC monitor which starts spinning in my current condition (as it is now! ).
Well that was quick. You've got me missing my/your old Sunburst L2000.
Awesome, Joe! The bass sounds great on that track!
Maybe "Jump 55" will become the standard by which we judge instruments going forward? We won't be able to judge a new bass's tone until we've heard it used by somebody on "Jump 55".
Techy question - did you use the F1X in your signal chain before it hit the BR-600? If I had to guess, I would say yes. It seems to have that nice, warm F1X tone going on...
Good ear Greg! I did indeed have the Alembic prior to the Roland. I like the warmth that it adds. It was set at 2-10-2.
I originally had the Alembic for sale to fund the G&L but a few house plans came in and now I can keep it!
IMO it is cool to see how different basses sound on the same song!
Tell Danny he wrote a classic tune!
