My first post here and I just had to say thanks. I lurked for a few weeks and took a Cirrus-6 for a test ride after reading some glowing reports about the Cirrus. Fell in love I did. Brand new it ran me $1395 after some head surgery with the salesman. Traded up my MIM Jazz and have little regrets cause that's what it took to get the deal done and still eat the next few weeks. You see I'm 42 with 3 daughters and money's tight. Teaching the youngest guitar, the next oldest is a natural born drummer and the oldest is a great athlete but she turns me on to the new music that rocks. Sorry for ramblin but life is good! You gotta great resource here and I plan to support in the near future.
I have learned that you can only teach those willing to learn and you can't make your kids play music! My oldest does her thing well so I am happy with that.
good too hear about life man, waiting on my fe wweeks of happyness as for the new bass. theres 2 rules #1 PIX PIX PIX PIX PIX!! #2 CLIPS CLIPS CLIPS CLIP!! later man, and welcome to TB!
Congrats! me too i got my 6-stringer (Warwick corvette 6) not-so-long ago. Hope you'll enjoy playing!
Welcome to Talkbass, 5string! As a fellow forty-something with 3 kids myself (all very musically inclined) I resonate with everything you say. Pouring into the kids is great - giving them a taste of all the great things in life. I have found that I need something for myself as well. I'm not a sports fan, I don't golf, I don't have a '73 Pontiac GTO collecting dust in the garage, I'm not even handy with home repairs. My vice is bass guitar....any my wife loves me ANYWAY!! God bless
Thanks guys, I'd post pix but I figured y'all seen a Cirrus-6 in Maple before. I am in love with the neck of this bass, so sweet. I am an out-of-retirement rocker. Mainly drummer, partly guitarist, some keyboard but I have a love for the bass that goes deep. Gave Baltimore hell in the 80's and 90's. I think my years as a drummer helps the fact that I am back on bass. I like being the anchor of the band and the feel of being dead-on start to finish. As for other lusts, I build a few custom Harleys a year and have a small part-time MC repair shop in town and am a bean counter for Uncle Sam during the day. (at least that's what pays the bills)
