It's been awhile in the making. The drummer and I moved on from the last project about a year ago, hooked up with some old friends and hit the woodshed. This project, for me, required a good bit of work as majority of the set was unfamiliar. Not that I haven't heard most of these over the years, just never attempted to learn or play. I really like the variety (outside of 99% hard rock). I'm using 2, maybe 3 tonal varieties to cover all of these but nothing Tech 21's BDDI programmable and a touch of Geddy can't handle. It's been fun, first gig is February something and really looking forward to getting back out there! Here's the first stab, with probably a little more finesse before final. I think we've got at least 10-15 more in the back pocket: Set 1 Unglued. Jealous again Walking the dog Are you gonna go my Way Zen Lightning crashes Beer drinkers Cuts Like a Knife Shine Everybody want some Give me back my Bullets Far behind Set 2 Mr. brownstone. Young lust Dirty deeds Bulls Cold Gin Run to You Baker Street Wake me up when September ends My Sharona Lithium Innocent Mean Street Cheap Sunglasses Whole Lotta love Set 3 Fly me courageous. Twilight zone Crackerman Damn, the river Run Like Hell Nutshell Long Long Way from home Cat, scratch, fever Gone gone gone Round and round Tush Her strut Smells like teen Spirit
I thank ya... Def heavier than any band I've been in prior but sprinkled with (enough?) crowd pleasers. We'll see, I guess. We're all old and ugly enough to scare em away anyways.
Nice sets. If you need a WAV file to play for the end of Young Lust, hit me up and I’ll email to you. I forget where I found it but I use it when we do it.
Interesting thought, thx, but I doubt we'll do that... We are covering pretty close to how they exit, just without the operator dialogue but we do end on the badum bum bum. Tho looking at the list, we put Dirty Deeds there for the easy transition being in "E" and all, I'm sure we discussed what we're doing there but I forgot.
Gone, gone, gone in set three; is that the Chilliwack song? Edit: Googled it; I'm thinking that's probably the Phillip Phillips song.
ok - but in set 3, the song is Dam That River, by Alice in Chains. Fantastic tune off the Dirt album. It's a banger!
You are correct, sir... I chuckled at some of the spellings and punctuation in the list. This being from the singer, not surprising. It's a repetitive riff for sure, but there is some room for dynamics btw the verse and chorus parts (where the guitar tightens and spreads). The timing changes in the short lead break were fun to tackle. It is HEAVY. Never played much AIC, always been a fan. "Would" is in the back pocket, I'm begging for that one.
Set 1, song 3 - Walkin' the Dog. Ratt covered that song on their debut EP, and I always preferred their arrangement over the original Aerosmith version.
funny! per the OP: hey, congrats on the new band, @stubborne! hope all your efforts (individual and combined) work out!
