New Bass Day: 6 string amber beast...

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Thrill-House, Sep 25, 2010.

  1. After a slight mix up with the music store, i have acquired my first 6 string bass, an Ibanez BTB776 in Amber. First, pics:

Im still kind of learning bass (been playing guitar for about 8 years), but its been alot of fun so far. I usually play my agile 8 strings when play guitar, so the wide neck on this beast feels completely natural. Im thinkin i might need something better than my crappy marshall practice amp so my low B comes out a little clearer, but that will come later.

All in all, its a great bass, cant find and flaws or problems with it so far, so for now im going to :bassist:

    very pretty sir.

i've heard good things about the BTB'ers. i've been rocking a pair of Dean Edge Q 6's for awhile.... impatiently waiting on a Dingwall AB-I sixer.

    nice pickup homie!

    Very nice looking bass. Congrats.

You can tighten up the bass in your little marshall bass combo by stuffing some high loft polyester batting into the cab. On the foor, back, and sides. Bag costs just a few bucks at places like wallmart. Fold it up several layers thick & cut into sized folded sheets. Cover the back, floor, and sides of cab. The stuffed in layer will bassically hold itself in place. But I'll also use a few peices of duct tape on edges to cab in a few places for good measure. Gives same benefit as acoustic insulation in good home stereo speakers. Tightens bass, makes treble a little sweeter, and smooths mids some. Ive added high loft poly batting (the sheets version not loose fluff crumbs type, lol) in every bass combo amp Ive ever owned. Except for the very few combos that allready had it in them via factory.

Great looking bass. How do you like it after having it for a few months now? How does it play? How's the tone?
  5. haha this old thread!

Yeah i still like it alot, it really the only bass i play. Sounds balanced but powerful, really thunders when played though my 8x10 amp. Its also got amazing balance and no neck dive. Ive tried many other basses since in my quest for a backup, but nothing really stood out like the BTB. I like it so much i just bought a 5 string BTB off ebay today, this one has a maple fretboard and an transparent orange finish. BTBs are easily my favourite basses.

Also, i always disliked that first pic, heres a better one

Any sound clips or youtube clips of this bass? I am considering one and want to know what the tone/sound is like. Thanks.
