Here's my latest mod, an Ibanez miKro body and a Rondo Hadean 24 inch scale neck that I had Eric's Guitar meld together, also replaced the bridge. I don't have a P/J bass, which drew me to the Ibanez, along with the smaller body. I made a decal for the head, mini-miKro. Had Eric use the mount holes for the old bridge as string-through for the Gold Tone/LaBella flatwound 25 inch scale strings made exclusively for the M-bass, but work on my other basses. The body is a little bigger than my other small basses, but it plays and sounds really good. I was debating between the walnut and the purple, but because I have no other purple ones and have walnut, I went for it. {}
{} I have to shoot some better shots, all between 21-24 inch scale. I actually have one more that I'm getting ready to bring over to Pat Wilkins to paint green.
Now that’s some good bass porn. Great diversity of basses!! May I ask why all such short scale? I’d love to hear the one in upper right w/ 3 p/u’s - looks like a beast! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome collection. You could do a thread describing each one. Lots of TBrs are looking to take the weight off their shoulder/back.
Thanks much. I played rhythm guitar for almost fifty years, very often I was told I should play bass because I had good feel and tempo, but I didn't want to be encumbered by a large electric bass, forget a standup double bass. Then about 4 1/2 years ago I started playing with a ukulele group and never touched my guitars again. About a year later the leader asked if anyone would like to take up the bass to fill in our sound, there are 60 of us. I decided to check it out and discovered the U-bass and other sub-short scale, so I went for it. With my fully acceptable case of GAS, whenever I find an opportunity to get another one in the scale, I get it. I like to modify them to look like commercial basses or just to be different, sometimes putting on fake parts just for the look, which is the case with the blue one (and the walnut Rick), the three gold pickups are just covers, the actual pickup is a piezo under the rear bridge saddle.
