Finished it up today... Here are the specs:

Through body eastern flamed maple neck
    Spalted/quilted maple top
    Macassar ebony fingerboard
    Black limba body
    Sadowsky PJ pickups
    Aguilar OBP-1
    TI Jazz Flats

It plays incredibly. The feel is amazing and the tone is warm, clear, punchy, and aggressive all at the same time. I can't believe it came out so well. Its the second electric bass me and my dad have built. We've also built a frettless ABG, a classical guitar, and two electric guitars. The next one we build is going to be a fretless jazz bass.

    And the obligatory family pic:

The first one is all the ones we've made and the second is every instrument we own (excluding a piano and a pipe organ, which we also built)

The random piece of wood in the first picture is the top for the fretless jazz. The picture didn't come out to well.

Thanks, when designing my main inspirations were victor wooten's fodera and a jazz bass. The neck is 1 5/8 at the nut, 2 3/8 at the body with 3/4 inch string spacing. Its kinda thick, but I prefer it that way, and I have this theory that thicker necks sound better.

That's sweet! Congrats! I'm doing a six'll be a while before it's done, though. I'm working with a friend of mine at my job who is a mad woodworker, very much a perfectionist. Can't wait to get the body wings done and slot the fretboard.

Nice bass! Looks kind of like a Fodera. What do the pots adjust?

Volume, blend (I wired it backwards, oops!), passive tone (push/pull for active/passive), treble, bass. There is hardly a difference between active and passive with treble and bass at 0, just a little extra noise from the preamp.

Hey tater tot, are you Ron White's son? ;)
  14. Jeff,
Consider yourself blessed! -- to not only be able to build these instruments, but to share the time with your father.

If there can be such a thing, it actually has body dive if you just hold it by the strap. When wearing it, it balances perfectly.

Thanks for the great compliments everyone!
