I've recently gotten a copy of the new BASS GUITAR magazine from Guitar World. I like it. I have always been more about rock music so it fits my tastes a little better than Bass Player. I still love BP, don't get me wrong. I'll just be stoked to have one more bass magazine in the mailbox!

    What do you all think?:D

well, for starters, i think that this belongs in miscellaneous, so i'll move it there now.

i'm glad to hear there's another bass magazine available and i'll have to go check it out. i can't imagine how it would beat coming here everyday, though ;).

I was kind of pushed away by them having Fieldy as a columnist, and having him explain how to play their easiest song... but other than that it is purty decent. Sorta bare though.

Yeah it is kinda thin but they are just getting started. They have followed the Guitar World template pretty closely.

They have 6 issue subscription cards in them for $16.97. I've sent mine in already.

Robert Trujillo is on the cover. Monster player. Even if the new stuff is not that good (I haven't heard any yet) I'm sure they will smoke live with Robert on board.

I love the bass but It can in my opinion not carry everything. Bass is kida boringto listen to if ya dont know whats going on in a song(as most dont). I think GW would be better if they combined more bass with the overload of guitars.

I'll subscribe to any bass magazine. Sent in my card about two months ago (yes, I subscribe to two bass magazines and three guitar magazines)

When I get my issue, I'll comment. Until then, still very hopeful.

Is it just me or does it seem like they're really promoting the  PICK  It seemed like every other article was someguy saying how awesome a pick was.

Or did GW just make up these interviews and such to promote the pick to turn all bass players into Guitarists!!! Or maybe BG has a deal with a pick manufactor to promote picks so thousands of bass players will buy their products!!!

Man, I think I stumbled on to something big.

i too get the weak bass player magazine and i'm not crazy about it,way back when guitar world used to have the bass-lines for the songs they tabbed for guitar but for what ever reason put an end to it.i would like to have another bass mag to read while i sit on my throne:rolleyes: .variety is nice.what i get here is 100% bettter, but when someone else's on the computer i like having something to look at while chilling out or before bed to get my eyes tired(nothing like book valiums to help greet the sandman).where can i get a subscription for the new bass mag ?i have yet to see one locally in any store.

Just picked it up. Looks pretty Rock oriented.

While I'm all for more Bass mags, Why isn't it called something like "Bass World"?

"Bass Guitar" magazine is already taken by a great bass publication out of England. Although I subscribe, it is available on newstands here in the States.......right next to (Guitar World's) Bass Guitar magazine.

Kind of a publishing boner by the rivetheads at Guitar World.

I don't think I'd call it "rock oriented". More like "rock and pop that's going to appeal to a younger audience than is attracted to BP". I'll pass - not my speed.

Does this mean BP will quit putting the bodypainted flavor of the week on the cover? ;)

At least, I don't see BP having Fieldy as a columnist anywhere near in the future! Can't imagine the amount of hate mail they'd get!

Why is everybody bitching about that! you need to realize that Ryan is a damn good bassist & not just "the bodypainted flavor of the week" for ****s sake!

Back on topic I like Bass Guitar with exception for the evil pick pyramid scheme & feildy's "metal slapping" article.

  17. i read it yesterday in the bookstore, and i've decided that they will never get a dime out of me.
