Guys: I practiced Bass saturday and everything was fine. This sunday I plugged in and when I cut power on to my practice amp, all I heard was a popping noise (whap whap whap whap, sort of pulsing). I could barely hear the strings at all. I then plugged in my bass to my battery operated tuner. It would not send a signal to the tuner at all. Nothing. I thought the cord might be bad, so I plugged the tuner in to the "output" and plugged it in to my practice bass. The mic on the tuner transmitted fine through the amp. So, my question is what the hell happened? no one touched it over night, and nothing was done to it. The bass stayed plugged in to the amp over night, and we had some storms, but there was a power bar/surge protector on it. Anyone know what the problem might be? I am very upset, only had the bass about four or so months. Thanks in advance Bullet
Is it an active bass? Did you keep the cord in the jack the whole night? If so, the battery is just dead. Pop it out and put a new one in.
Will the battery die from having the cord connected? Jeez. I hope that is it! I will give that a try and report back. Thanks!
Yes the battery will die with the cord plugged in. The 1/4" connector completes the loop and the juices flow.
Wow, I am a noob. That was the problem allright. Crisis averted. Thanks everyone for helping me become less dumb.
