Doesn't matter to me that there's no tone control on passive mode, cuz it freakin roxors! The active mode is far more superior to the previous bass I owned...

Yeah, you're weird. Most people buy that bass because they want to sound like Marcus. And Marcus definitely ain't passive. Nice instrument; congrats. Wish I had one. BTW, Fender's also got a '77 Jazz reissue out, without the active Marcus doodads. Also a nice piece of work.
Not everyone buys a signature instrument to sound like the guy. Sometimes they simply like the instrument... ( I love the Fender Stu Hamm Urge II but i really don't care about Stu Hamm )
Funny tale: This guy, aged 17, returned his MM sig, because, he couldn't get M's sound when he slapped. I'm guessing he should've bought M's talent, years of training, hands, brain, experience, groove, vibe, physical build, musical background, ............................
